Christmas is done, the weather is rubbish, so it’s editing time. I’m working on a client’s video and it’s something a little bit different that required most of the filming to be done indoors. The drone did get used for some establishing aerial shots outside and some shots inside, but most of the footage was shot from a tripod. I even shot some footage on the tiny DJI Osmo Pocket, which actually worked out pretty well. All of these pictures are frame grabs from the 4K video, with a minimal colour grade.
I used the RodeLink Wireless Lavalier Microphone to record an interview with the client and it worked brilliantly. It is a great microphone for the money. I was originally going to use a Rode Shotgun mic, but I am glad that I didn’t. You can’t beat a Lavalier mic for getting clean audio whilst cutting out unwanted background noise.
During my visits to the farm, the drone survived a very close encounter with a flock of doves, and my tripod mounted camera survived being very close to the rear end of many cows! It was an interesting experience and I got a very good insight into the world of automated cow milking. More will be revealed in the next couple of weeks.
